University Publication Award 2013: Accepting Papers

To acknowledge the importance of universities in facilitating the exchange of ideas, we launched the CST University Publication Award in 2003. The award recognizes the importance of university publications and research and commends the submissions for demonstrating the practical applications of simulation.

The award has grown significantly since its launch, but our selection process has remained relatively consistent. Chosen papers must be authored or co-authored by academic researchers, must have been published either in scientific journals or in conference proceedings, and most importantly, papers must have used numerical results that were entirely, or in part, obtained using CST software. We evaluate the submitted papers on a number of criteria, including:

  • originality of the application and/or theory,
  • clarity of the presentation,
  • skilful use of the CST software features.

We’re now in the process of collecting all our submissions for the University Publication Award 2013 – we are accepting papers until March 31, 2013. Although the deadline is near, you still have time to send us your papers - your respective university could be awarded with an upgraded license valid for one year.

For a snapshot of winning papers, the following were selected to receive the CST University Publication Award 2012:

CST Now Distributing Delcross World-wide

CST has just signed a distribution agreement making us authorized resellers of Delcross Technologies' products EMIT and Savant.

EMIT analyzes multi-antenna platforms and predicts cosite interference between RF systems attached to the antennas. Savant predicts the performance of antennas as installed on electrically-large platforms. Both EMIT and Savant can take output data directly from CST STUDIO SUITE®.

Through this new distribution agreement with Delcross, CST is now able to offer a complete workflow solution for antenna design, installed performance and cosite analysis. Matthew Miller, the President of Delcross Tehnologies said, “Delcross is excited about this opportunity to work with CST to provide our customers with integrated and state-of-the-art solutions to challenging cosite interference and in-situ antenna performance problems.”

CST will not just be selling Delcross software, but providing support for it as well through our skilled team of our electromagnetic specialists. Together with Delcross, we're hoping to streamline the customer experience and provide our customers with complete design solutions for the analysis of installed antenna performance and complex multi-antenna systems and platforms.

Find out more about the agreement and our new collaboration in our official press release.

*UPDATE* For all purchases of EMIT and Savant completed by July 30, 2013, CST is offering a 25% introductory discount.

EMC Design Rules Explored

"EMC design for PCBs using a rules based approach" workshop
On February 5 in Santa Clara, CA, more than 100 engineers and managers from hardware companies across Silicon Valley attended our one-day workshop, "EMC design for PCBs using a rules based approach".

Dr. Bruce Archambeault, IEEE fellow and IBM Distinguished Engineer gave a very well received presentation on the topic and some useful background on the fundamental physics involved.

Richard Sjiariel presented CST's new product CST BOARDCHECK™, which offers a rapid solution for checking PCBs and critical nets for rules violations.

We were happy to see a number of people interested in taking a closer look at the new software and we look forward to showing customers the design benefits of this approach over the coming months.

Finding Solutions at DesignCon

CST at DesignCon 2013
We're back from DesignCon 2013 and are excited to see that interest in simulation has soared this year. There was a record crowd of engineers at our booth all looking for solutions to complex signal and power integrity issues or EMC related concerns. CST’s breadth of technology seemed to be of great interest and now we look forward to many follow-ups over the next few weeks to help companies get to the bottom of some really tough design problems.

As part of the conference, CST sponsored a 75 minute tutorial session looking at advances in 3D SI simulation of interconnects across chip, package and board. This attracted a capacity audience of around 150 people. In addition, CST was involved in some of the main conference tracks including a presentation together with Siemens looking at Power-Integrity Issues between power planes and power planes & traces and a presentation with Intel on Modeling and Optimization of High-Speed Interconnects for Signal and Power Integrity.

DesignCon is all about finding solutions for increasingly fast data through various channels. CST’s advanced EDA import filters, powerful time-domain and PI solvers, and advanced interface and workflow solutions as well as high performance computing options make traditionally difficult simulations or optimizations in multi-way interconnect, multilayer stack ups, complex backplanes, PCB/package EMI, enclosures, or even the complete chip/package/board channel light work.

Usability and workflow take a big step forward in version 2013 of CST STUDIO SUITE®, shipping in the Spring - stay tuned!
