What's on next week: September 4th-10th



Next week we are exhibiting at EMC Europe, and URSI Cartagena, both exhibitions should be fascinating and as always, the best part is when we get to meet with CST users so be sure to find us on the exhibition floor! For those of you on the west coast of the USA, we are hosting a dedicated antenna simulation workshop in Santa Clara, California on September 7th.
We will also host a Czech-language workshop on the 5th and 6th which will be focused on measurement of vector network analyzers. We look forward to seeing many familiar faces at all of these events.

EMC Europe 2017 focuses on the high quality of scientific and technical contributions as well as the fruitfulness of exchanges among EMC researchers and practitioners from all over the world, in a spirit of openness and conviviality. URSI Cartagena 2017

The XXXII Simposium de la Unión Científica Internacional de Radio (URSI) will take place from 6th to 8th of September 2017, in Cartagena, Spain. The URSI annually brings together more than two hundred researchers, professionals and students from the field of Information Technology and Communications (ICT) in order to present their research and technological development work in areas like Wireless and Mobile Communications, Antennas, Fotonoic and Optical Communications, Electromagnetism, Radioastronomy, Satellite Communications and a lot more.
The Symposium has been celebrating uninterruptedly since 1980 and its main objective is to constitute a technical reference forum for the telecommunications sector, as well as to foster collaboration between researchers and technologists of universities and companies in the sector.

Antenna engineers are rising to design challenges with new generations of antenna concepts, enabled by powerful simulation and computation advancements in recent years. CST has been an industry leader in Antenna Simulation since its formation 25 years ago. This workshop offers an excellent opportunity for engineers and scientists from industry, research and universities working on antenna applications to meet. Industry experts will deliver keynote discussions about their work and future trends, and CST will present both current technology and the newest developments in EM simulation, together with workflow examples relevant to the field.

CST STUDIO SUITE Vector Network Analyzer - Measurement Training (Czech)
5th - 6th September 2017

Develop your skills with VNA measurement for the experimental verification of the simulation results from CST STUDIO SUITE®. The course will focus on a practical application of VNA calibration techniques for on-board and coaxial line measurement of S-parameters. The training course consists of 2 full days including theoretical and hands-on parts. The measured data will be consequently used for an extraction of substrate complex permittivity and evaluation of hybrid model of SMD component. The challenges of the proper comparison between the simulation and measurement results will be discussed in the end.The training will be held in Czech.

The 25th International Conference on Magnet Technology is the international forum addressing all aspects of magnet research, development, construction, testing, and operation. MT25 is a 5 days conference starting on Sunday evening with a welcome reception, 4 days with presentation and exhibitions, and ending on the Friday with tours. The program includes 8 plenary sessions highlighting catching topics of general interest. Each morning and afternoon there are oral presentations in 3 parallel sessions while posters are presented in a daily session. In parallel during all four days, there is a technical exhibition with 40 to 50 companies expected to present their activities and products in the field of superconductors, superconducting and resistive magnets, materials and tools for magnet construction, as well as associated technologies for vacuum, cryogenics, powering, measurements, controls and much more.

Announcing the CST Webinar Series 2017



We are excited to announce the CST® Webinar Series 2017. Every year we host a marathon of webinars on the most fascinating and prescient topics in EM Simulation, and we have quite the lineup this year. Registration is already open for all of our webinars, so sign up today to be sure you don’t miss out.

We’ll explore several ways that electromagnetic simulation can be used in the design process to characterize signal integrity (SI), power integrity (PI) and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) effects in “Design and Characterization of SerDes Channels” (October 19), “SI/PI Co-Extraction and Simulation” (November 9) and “Precise Characterization of Multipin Connectors” (December 7)

We will also demonstrate how EM simulation can be applied to some of the latest, most active fields of microwave engineering, and will demonstrate how simulation and measurement can be combined to characterize the RF properties of materials. Ensuring compliance with EMC and EMI regulations is necessary for designing all types of electronic devices, yet it can also be one of the most arduous parts of the design process.  “EMC Simulation for Automotive Ethernet” (November 2) will show how electromagnetic simulation can be used in the development of an automotive radar system, and in integrating an Ethernet system into a car.

Electromagnetic simulation offers considerable advantages for the design of power engineering components and devices. “Wireless Power Transfer” (September 21) will demonstrate the use of workflows and best practices to predict the performance of coils and inductive charging systems in an automotive environment.

The combination of particle simulation and electromagnetic simulation offers a powerful tool for the analysis of high-power devices. “Gyrotron Simulation with CST STUDIO SUITE” (September 28)will show how gyrotrons can be simulated in CST STUDIO SUITE  using a 3D Particle in Cell (PIC) Solver.

The photonics market is growing rapidly, and devices using photonic effects are used in an increasing number of industries. At optical frequencies, nonlinear material effects become very important and need to be taken into account in simulation. “Efficient Design of Integrated Photonic Circuits using Luceda IPKISS and CST STUDIO SUITE(October 5) will demonstrate how CST STUDIO SUITE can be used, together with the partner tool IPKISS from Luceda Photonics, to design and simulate photonic devices.
