This year's European Microwave Week, which ran from October 8-13 was a wonderful success for CST. We sponsored the wifi for the exhibition and our booth was busy as we welcomed attendees to learn more about CST STUDIO SUITE and electromagnetic imulation. One of the highlights was our ever popular CST Modeling Challenge. This year, we asked attendees to model and simulate a simple waveguide filter. We were impressed with the entrants’ work, and surprised by the interest – our computers were often all in use. Everyone who successfully completed the challenge received the classic Nuremberg delicacy: a Lebkuchen (gingerbread) heart and were entered into a raffle to win prizes
at our booth party.
We provided demonstrations in the CST lab on the finer details working with both EM simulation and measurement, providing a preview of the joint "Measurement Meet Simulation" workshops we run with Rohde & Scwarz throughout the year.

The CST booth also featured a demonstration with virtual reality glasses that gave people the chance to see EM fields in 3D and explore them digitally. With VR, people could see Wi-Fi signals propagating through a bus and see
how signals can jump from one PCB trace to another causing crosstalk. We had a great deal of fun meeting old friends and new who came to try for themselves.
On Wednesday afternoon, we held our booth party and the winners of the Modeling Challenge were announced and picked up their prizes from Samsung, Bang & Olufsen and Bose. The party featured local food and drinks and was well attended and we're already looking forward to European Microwave

In this webinar, we will demonstrate how a 3D full-wave simulation can be used to analyze the antenna to antenna coupling for an Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS). The coupling data will then be used to estimate possible RF interference using one of the newer products of CST STUDIO SUITE: The CST Interference Task. With this new system-level tool, RF systems can be defined to analyze inter-system coupling. The analysis delivers the possible occurrence of RF interference at a glance. The interference task is fully integrated into the CST design environment, making it easy to run different scenarios and test mitigation strategies after the detection of possible interference. are the goals of the 2017 Automotive Conference?

There are several key goals of this
conference. First, we want to provide a forum for decision makers and engineers
in the automotive industry who are dealing with electromagnetic simulation to
concentrate on simulation techniques and simulation applications.
We are also seeking to bring together both
OEMs and tier 1 and tier 2 suppliers in a neutral environment to facilitate
mutual discussion and knowledge exchange.
This conference will combine all EM
simulation related topics in a single conference: from DC / low frequency up to
high-speed design and radar applications. We have presentations that discuss
the complete value-added chain: from IC and package to PCB, connector, cable,
and antenna and finally to the entire vehicle in its (electromagnetic) environment.
There will be a focus on Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), autonomous driving, electric vehicles, connected
vehicles, and electronic components and we will show state-of-the-art EM
simulation, demonstrate best practices and highlight improvements from recent

For the first time, the conference will
feature a combination of EM simulation and mechanical simulation of electric
vehicles (Vibro-Acoustic Simulation of Electric Powertrain) and we plan to
include more in future conferences.
We have 21+ high-quality technical
presentations from more than 15 different companies and academic institutions;
including a plenary talk presented by BMW on the democratization of EM simulation
which will be followed by panel discussion on how to achieve this between OEMs
should people choose this conference and who should consider coming?
This conference is mainly concentrating on
electromagnetic simulation in automotive industry, so we welcome all people who
are working in this field. I’d encourage people to attend because there is no
other entirely open conference with similar content right now.
